Life in the Mountains: What to Expect

​Welcome to our slice of the wilderness! Our cabin offers an authentic rural experience, which is a significant part of its charm. Because we are located in a genuine mountain community rather than a curated resort Area, we want to help you prepare for a seamless stay.

​The Neighborhood Ambiance

​We are surrounded by full-time residents who call these mountains home. As part of the local character, you may hear a neighbor’s dog offer a brief, welcoming bark when you arrive. Don't worry—they are friendly and usually quiet down Quickly, Usually before you’ve settled in.

​Wildlife & Nature

​The mountains are teeming with life! It is common to see various wildlife, including Black Bears and other mountain creatures of all shapes and sizes. For your safety and theirs, please maintain a respectful distance and ensure all food and trash are secured indoors.

 It is also possible to see or be visited by things like Lizards, Snakes, Birds of Prey, Mice, Raccoons, Hummingbirds, Bees and any and all type of Insects.  

Seasonal Notes: Hunting Season

​Hunting is a long-standing tradition in this region.

Season Start: Beginning in October, you will likely see hunters and their dogs along the roadsides throughout the county.

​Safety: This is a normal part of local life. We simply ask that you be mindful of their presence when exploring the area.

​Preparing for the Elements

​Part of the adventure of a rural getaway is being at the mercy of Mother Nature.

​Utilities: Powerful storms can occasionally interrupt the power and our Starlink internet.

Our Backup: While we can’t control the grid, we have provided an Emergency Kit with flashlights and batteries to keep you comfortable until service is restored.

 * There will be NO Refunds for power outages or loss of Utilities or Internet services.

Connectivity: Your Wi-Fi and Door Codes will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to check-in.

Guest Amenities & Logistics:

The Blackstone Grill

​We provide a propane Blackstone Flattop-style grill for your use.

​Propane Policy: We do our best to ensure the tank has enough fuel for at least one use.

Extended Use: If you plan to grill frequently, you may need to take the tank into town to trade it out for a fresh one or have this one filled, as we do NOT provide mid-stay refills.

​Your comfort is our top priority. We offer self-check-in and give you complete privacy during your stay.

Security & Privacy

​Your safety and peace of mind are our top priorities. To ensure a secure environment for all our guests, please be aware that the property is equipped with external security cameras. these are located at all primary entrances and overlook the parking areas from the front, side, rear of house and garage areas. These cameras record both video and audio 24/7 to help us monitor the premises and protect the property. Please note that these devices are strictly external; there are no cameras or recording devices located inside the home, ensuring your indoor privacy is fully respected.

* ​For safety and security, cameras must remain operational at all times. Disabling or tampering with these devices by any guest will lead to an automatic cancellation of the stay and forfeiture of all payments.

Digital Welcome Book: Upon booking, you’ll receive our comprehensive digital guide featuring our favorite local spots and cabin "how-to's."

Communication: While we aren't on-site, think of us as your local guides! We are always available via the app or phone to assist you.
